As a Project Researcher at the Comparative Regional Integration Studies Programme of the United Nations University (UNU-CRIS), Sonja Schröder is currently involved in a one-year research project on the free movement of people within regional organizations. The project is conducted in cooperation with UNESCO and aims at addressing the role of human mobility within regional integration processes throughout the world.

Sonja Schröder successfully completed a Master of European Studies at the University of Bonn, Center for European Integration Studies (ZEI) in 2008. During and after her studies in Political Science and Law at the University of Hamburg (graduation in 2007), she gained professional experience by working in the European Parliament in Brussels, the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in Berlin and the German-Romanian Research Institute in Bucharest.

Her main research interests lie with the EU’s institutional reform, new forms of European and global governance as well as free movement of people and migration policies.
