Lucio Vinhas de Souza is Associate Research Fellow at the Comparative Regional Integration Studies Programme of the United Nations University (UNU-CRIS) in Bruges since 2005. He is also Head of the Russia/Belarus Desk at DG-ECFIN of the European Commission (since 2005). Previously he was Senior Economist at the Kiel Institute for World Economics (2002-2005), Associate Economic Affairs Officer at ECLAC (1995-1997), Researcher at an EU PHARE Project (1994-1995). He worked as Consultant for the European Parliament.
Lucio Vinhas de Souza obtained a B.Sc. in Economics at the FCE/UFBa Valedictorian (Portugal), a M.Sc. in Applied Economics at the FE/UNL (Portugal) and a Ph.D. in Economics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. He was Visiting Researcher at the Deutsche Bundesbank (2005) and the Bank of Estonia, Visiting Fellow at DG ECFIN European Commission (2003) and the Université Libre de Bruxelles (2002).
His current research interests include: macro economy, international economics, monetary economics, macro-modelling, transition economics, European Union/EMU.
