Dr. Nikki Slocum-Bradley

Nikki Slocum-Bradley

Nikki Slocum-Bradley is Associate Research Fellow at the Comparative Regional Integration Studies Programme of the United Nations University (UNU-CRIS) in Bruges (since 2002). She has also held positions as a Lecturer at the University of Kent at Canterbury’s Brussels School of International Studies (2005), the Free University of Brussels (VUB) (2003), and at Georgetown University (1999-2001). She was also head of the UNU-CRIS office in Brussels (2003-2005).  

 

Nikki Slocum-Bradley has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, a Diplom (Master’s equivalent) in Psychology from the University of Kiel, and a Ph.D. in Psychology form Georgetown University. She was also visiting scholar at Oxford University.

 

Her research interests include: social-psychological and cultural aspects of regional integration, especially the relationship between identity-constructions, conflict and peace; regional integration and human security; social construction and development; discourse analysis, in particular Positioning Theory; philosophies and methodologies of (social) science; psychology.

 

She is the author of Particpatory Methods Toolkit: A Practioner’s Manual (2003, King Baudouin Foundation and Flemish Institute for Science and Technology Assessment; Expanded edition, 2005). She has published in Common Knowledge, Culture and Psychology, Journal of European Integration and Geopolitics. She has authored various chapters in edited books (published by Springer, Praeger, Pluto Press, UNU Press, James Currey), as well as expert background papers for various policy forums.
