Dr. Fredrik Söderbaum

Fredrik Söderbaum

Fredrik Söderbaum is an Associate Senior Research Fellow at the Comparative Regional Integration Studies Programme of the United Nations University (UNU-CRIS) in Bruges. He is an Associate Professor at the School of Global Studies at the University of Gothenburg. He is Member of editorial board of African Security (Routledge) and the editorial board of the book series International Political Economy of the New Regionalisms (Ashgate).

He received a B.A. in Government, Public Administration and Economics from Lund University, an M.A. in Political Science from Lund University and a Ph.D. in Peace and Development Studies from University of Gothenburg.

 

Söderbaum is author or editor of numerous books, including The EU as a Global Actor: The Politics of Interregionalism (2006, Routledge); The Political Economy of Regionalism. The Case of Southern Africa. (2004, Palgrave), Theories of New Regionalism. A Palgrave reader (2003, Palgrave), Regionalism and Uneven Development in Southern Africa. The Case of the Maputo Development Corridor (2003, Ashgate), The New Regionalism in Africa (2003, Ashgate), Regionalization in a Globalizing World. A Comparative Perspective on Forms, Actors and Processes (2001, Zed Books).

 

His articles were published in: New Political Economy, Global Governance, European Foreign Affairs Review, European Journal of Development Research, Journal of European Integration, Journal of Modern Africa Studies, Journal of International Relations and Development and Politea.



His main research interests include: new regionalism, comparative regionalism, global governance and interregionalism, EU’s role in the world, African studies, governance and the quality of government.
